Who is this treatment for?

Dental implants are perfect for individuals who have missing teeth, loose teeth, broken or failing bridges, and those who want a stable and durable alternative to dentures. They’re an excellent solution for anyone seeking a long-lasting, reliable method of tooth replacement that mimics the natural tooth in both function and appearance.

What does the treatment process involve?

1

Initial Consultation

The first step is a consultation with one of our experienced dentists and a CT scan.

2

Bespoke Plan

During your consultation we will evaluate your teeth and create a personalized treatment plan based on your unique needs and goals.

3

Fitting the Implant

After your initial consultation and CT scan, the standard treatment time for dental implants is typically between 5-6 months. During this time, the implant post will fuse with your jawbone in a process called osseointegration.

4

Fitting the crown

Once the implant is securely anchored in place, we will attach the abutment and crown or bridge to complete the restoration.

What are the benefits of Dental Implants?

Dental implant treatment can offer a number of benefits over traditional dentures or bridges, including improved speech, better chewing ability, and a more natural-looking smile. In addition, dental implants can help to prevent bone loss and preserve the structure of your jaw over time.

They can effectively replace a single tooth, several teeth, or an entire set of teeth. They’re also ideal for securing unstable dentures, providing the comfort and security needed for everyday activities like eating and speaking.

Some bruising or swelling is normal after implant surgery. However, this is temporary and can be managed with appropriate aftercare and medication.

While some discomfort is common after the treatment, modern techniques and local anaesthesia ensure the process is as pain-free as possible.

After receiving dental implants, it’s important to follow some key aftercare steps to ensure the success of your procedure and maintain your oral health. Here are some typical aftercare instructions:

Good Oral Hygiene: Brush your teeth twice a day and floss daily to keep your mouth clean and free of harmful bacteria. You may also be advised to use a mouthwash. This will help to prevent infection and ensure your implants stay healthy.

Avoid Hard Foods: For a short period following surgery, try to avoid eating hard and chewy foods which could potentially damage your new implants or cause discomfort.

No Smoking or Alcohol: Smoking can delay healing and interfere with the implant-bone integration process. Alcohol can also affect oral health and impair healing, so it’s advisable to avoid these habits, especially in the initial healing period.

Regular Check-ups: Attend all scheduled follow-up appointments with your dentist so they can monitor the healing process and the health of your implant.

Please note that your dentist will provide specific aftercare instructions tailored to your individual needs and situation.

Dental implant procedures are typically performed under local anesthesia, so while you will be awake, you should not feel any pain during the surgery. The local anesthesia will numb the area being worked on, so you’ll be conscious and aware, but free from discomfort.

For those who feel anxious about dental procedures, sedation options are available. These can help you relax and may even make you feel drowsy, but you’ll still be awake and able to respond to instructions.

Your dentist will discuss your anesthesia and sedation options with you prior to the procedure to ensure you’re comfortable and understand what to expect.

Remember, it’s crucial to openly communicate with your dentist about any concerns or questions you have. They’re there to help make the process as comfortable and stress-free as possible.
